CERN Summer Studentship

What we offer

  • An extensive physics lecture programme, and the possibility to attend a series of IT lectures.
  • A 93 CHF per calendar day (net of tax) subsistence allowance
  • Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive Health Insurance scheme (contribution already deducted from allowance).
  • Depending on your individual circumstances: travel expenses to and/or from Geneva.
  • A contract of association of 8 to 13 weeks to work on a scientific or technical project.
  • Assistance to find accommodation on the CERN site or nearby.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Educational background and student status By the start of the summer, you are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (not a PhD) in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics and have completed at least 6 semesters of full-time university studies in one of these fields.
    You remain enrolled as a full-time student at least until the start of the summer studentship.
  • Previous CERN experience You have not worked at CERN for more than 3 months under any other status, and you have not previously participated in the Summer Student Programme at CERN.
  • Language skills You have a good knowledge of English.
Recruitment process for this programme
  1. Submit application Apply with your CV (in English or French) and complete the online application before the deadline.
    Add an academic reference letter + 2 transcripts.
  2. Application review and interview Your application will be reviewed and you may be invited to take part in an online interview with the hiring manager(s) to discuss your application, CERN and the position, and for you both to determine if it could be a good fit.
  3. Offer and onboarding If you are successful, you will receive an offer. Once you accept, your onboarding journey begin!
